Self Confidence: Transforming Self & Others

Remember a time when you learned a new activity and the pride you felt when demonstrating your new skill. Your heart leapt and your confidence soared above the clouds. At that time you felt unstoppable. One of the most rewarding activities is helping others to understand and learn new things, skills and abilities in any context. The pride when they recognise they have the competence to do new things is fantastic. Whether it is swimming, learning a new business competence or social skill is unimportant. Developing ‘self confidence’ in others is the key to business and personal improvement

Benefits of promoting positive self worth and confidence:

  • Confident people express themselves freely.
  • People who are confident will speak their mind.
  • Confident people are more likely to challenge things when they could be better.
  • Confident people self-disclose first, thus opening up a climate of trust with others and foster great teamwork.
  • People learn faster and better, take thoughtful risks, stretch beyond their zone of comfort when they can communicate openly without fear of criticism from colleagues.

How to do it

  • Recognise that praise, rather than criticism, stimulates the freedom to express thoughts, dreams and visions.
  • Those who manage others are fundamental in shaping the learning and choices of their people.
  • Taking risks and encouraging ‘out of the box’ thinking promotes innovation.
  • Learning, thinking, and talking through ideas are what stimulates growth and prosperity in mind and wealth.
  • By challenging self and others we can all develop to our true potential.

If the business you work in was your own – you would probably focus much more on helping others express their confidence and actions in doing things better, quicker and more efficiently. By concentrating on stimulating the ‘confidence factor, a business, can grow beyond all limits.
