Learning Faster

We can all learn faster. We can accelerate our learning process when we understand we learn on the unconscious and conscious level of awareness. For instance, when we jump into the car, start the engine, look in the mirror and signal to pull out into the road, very few of us actually engage a strong conscious effort to do so. Most have learned this skill so well that we can trust that our "other than conscious" processes can take over and achieve this rather complex manoeuvre. This is true in many areas of life - from playing a musical instrument to trusting our fingers to fly over the keyboard and find the correct keys. Knowing that we learn at multiple levels can help us design learning experiences to make the most of our conscious and unconscious mind.

Learning to swim, play golf or ride a horse requires a degree of knowledge on the conscious level and practice on the physical level. This conscious knowledge and repetition on the physical level evolve into a complex learning experience that is practised, repeated and maintained through corrections to any deviations through feedback.

Designing the Learning Experience

This process can be made to work in an organisational setting and significantly impact on the functioning and effectiveness of the business. It has been proven to accelerate learning in practising

  • Managing the flow of the sales process - particularly working with new prospects
  • Building rapport with difficult people
  • Negotiating a win-win solution with customers
  • Presenting to diverse audiences
  • Creating trust with a variety of people in difficult situations
  • Developing effective training inputs
  • Designing and delivering learning outcomes to replace tedious traditional processes
  • Accelerate ownership for change
  • Winning the psychological commitment of new staff to the culture of the business
